Boarding for Little Dogs

Your little dog sleeps on your couch during the day, and under the covers at night. She likes to play with a certain squeaky toy, wants a little warm water mixed with her food, and watches the animal planet with you every day. When you go away, don't leave her in a kennel built for big hunting dogs. Don't leave her in furnished suite all alone either. A cage is a cage is a cage.

Leave her with us at the Idle Dog. We opened our home in 2005 for the care of little dogs only. This is our only job. We are trying our best to maintain reasonable rates. No required deposits, no late fees, no extra fees for special food, medications, or attention for specific behavior modification. Extra housebreaking attention for puppies. Warm heating pads for arthritic seniors. Multiple boarded dogs from same household discounted 20%.

Let her snuggle with our Cavaliers on the couch. We will even let her burrow under the covers if that's what she wants. Pups go in and out to the large fenced yard all day. No enforced play or nap times. Open door policy on any crates. Treadmill training for every interested client at no extra cost.

Deb Muise is a certified dog trainer from Animal Behavior College. Our pack is balanced and controlled. Aggression of any kind is not allowed. There is no punishment. Instead, good behavior is encouraged with consistent rewards and reinforcements. Undesired behavior is gently interrupted.

Dog Walking for All Sizes. We now refer our walks to Pete Woodruff, of Jogs with Dogs. He is a well known Professional dog walker in the Metrowest area who organizes pack walks of up to 6 compatible canines for walks through the Ashland State Park, on or off leash. He will pick up your dog, lead an hour's pack-walk through the woods, and return your best friend, happier and probably a little dirty. He also offers neighborhood walks of up to 30 minutes, alone or with other dogs.

Professional Dog Training for all sizes

Training is a life-time commitment.  A lasting training program develops the relationship between you and your dog. Training at the Idle Dog focuses on particularly annoying or dangerous issues (food aggression, toilet training, pulling on leash, etc.). The initial private session is at your home (or wherever the bad behavior is triggered).

An evaluation costs $60 for 30-60 minutes ($100 for dangerous issues). Deb will evaluate the dog's environment, basic commands, methods of discipline, daily routines, space available to the dog, and any other aspect of daily living that may have an effect on the dog's behavior.
Suggestions are made in a written report, and follow-up sessions arranged.

Group Classes are scheduled when interest is sufficient. They are single sessions, 1 hr in length, with attendance limited to 6 clients and their dogs. Two handlers may participate  with each dog. Single issues are addressed, such a pulling on leash, refusal to eat, resource guarding (food, toys), aggression, chewing, digging, jumping, or any uncontrolled behavior. Call for more information: 978-973-7855.
